What is a Computer?
A computer is an electronic device that follows instructions stored in its memory unit.
What is a Peripheral Device?
A peripheral device used to enter information into a computer or deliver processed data to a human or another machine. Examples are: Monitor, keyboard, mouse, touchpad, joystick.
Parts of a Computer System
Keyboard
Input device used to type information into the computer.
Monitor
Displays the information generated by the computer.
System Unit
Stores essential components such as; Central Processing Unit (CPU), Motherboard, processor, and Random Access Memory (RAM)
Mouse
A pointing device use used to make on-screen selections.
Printer
Creates physical copies of on-screen data and information.
CD/DVD Discs
Commonly used to deliver programs and store large multimedia files.
Flash Drive
A USB flash drive is a portable storage device that connects to a computer’s USB port.
Modem
Sends a network signal to the computer. Used to connect many computers to the network or Internet.
Uninterrupted Power Supply
A component that supplies power to the computer.
Headset
Comprised of headphones and microphone. Headphones are commonly used to communicate over the Internet.
Webcam
An input camera that inputs to a computer connected to the Internet, so that its images can be viewed by Internet users.
Speakers
Speakers are used to output sounds.
